Not bad for one day trip. Let's go. ## Best breakfast in Paraguarí: Frutería Paraguarí If you've ever driven through Paraguarí, you know the [Frutería](https://maps.app.goo.gl/aGc1SjwUQZvKYZEW7). It's famous for a reason: the menu is huge and everything is good. Some of us played it classic with a coffee and a sandwich. It felt like 50. The stairs up to the [Cerro Perõ](https://share.google/dzdkbqxcjyHxzeUvd) lookout are 208 meters long, but each step was taller than the last one, making us feel the burn. There were like three of "let's stop to enjoy the view" breaks. (Translation: we needed to breathe.) But wow, was it worth it. From the top, everything is green, and you can see the whole city. We showed the students the plaza sitting right in front of the church. It's a classic layout you'll find in towns all over Paraguay, a leftover of how cities were planned after colonization. We watched the bride walk down the aisle from afar. A sweet little moment none of us planned. Very nice place, kind staff and very good food. The big choice of the day: asado or pasta. I went for vacío with arroz con queso, never fails and it was delicious. If you've never tried arroz con queso, consider it your homework. ![Captura de pantalla 2026-09-30 a la(s) 3.30.35 p. m.](https://fluidospanish.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Captura%20de%20pantalla%202026-09-30%20a%20la(s)%203.30.35%20p.%20m..png?width=419&height=316&name=Captura%20de%20pantalla%202026-09-30%20a%20la(s)%203.30.35%20p.%20m..png)   A mix of cultures sharing the table: Paraguayans, an Italian, a Japanese couple and an American. ## Mbatoví: best nature reserve near Asunción With full bellies (maybe not the smartest plan), we headed to the [Mbatoví](https://www.instagram.com/eco_reserva_mbatovi/) reserve for three hours of pure nature and adrenaline on the [Tapé Saingó circuit](https://www.mbatovi.com.py/la-ecoaventura-precios), which means "hanging path." Here's what it includes: - A 2 km trail through the Atlantic forest - Four hanging bridges over little streams - Two zip lines that fly you over the forest, 40 meters up, 110 meters long - A rappel down a natural rock wall of the hills No experience needed, but you do need to be in good shape. After Cerro Perõ, some of us had doubts. Pure fun. Everyone flew across with huge smiles, screaming and laughing. Then the rappel showed up: a 40-meter wall going straight down. Some of us were scared (no names, don't worry).
