Top 3 Gyms in Asunción, Paraguay for Expats & Digital Nomads

Intro

Exen Gym is our top recommendation for expats living around Villa Morra, Asunción. However, some of the staff only speak spanish, which expats can learn at Fluido Spanish School.

The three gyms compared in this guide are:

  • Mr. Muscle Gym
  • Exen Gym
  • Smart Fit

Mr. Muscle Gym

  • Located in Recoleta
  • Gs. 190,000/month ($28/month)

Mr. Muscle Gym is arguably one of the most affordable gym within Recoleta. For expats living in Recoleta, who want a budget-friendly gym without having to walk far, this is a fit. They have an outdoor turf patio with tires to flip and sleds to push, for gym-goers who want to catch a tan at the same time.

It is an independently owned gym, great for clients who want to support local businesses.

Exen Gym

  • Locations in Villa Morra, Hipodromo, Villa Elisa, & Luque
  • Gs. 249,000/month ($37/month)
Exen gym is a mid-sized chain in the Greater Asunción area. It's one of the most expensive gyms, and one the highest-quality ones. Their location in Luque has courts to play padel. Their 249,000/month fee is only for members who pay for 6-months at once; otherwise, it's more expensive.

Smart Fit

  • Locations in Shopping del Sol, the Old Center, Shopping Multiplaza, San Vicente & Lambaré
  • Prices start at Gs. 169,000 ($25/month)

Smart Fit is the largest international gym chain in South America. A subscription gives members access to any gym. However, any membership cancellations must be made in-person, in the same country the membership was purchased in. Smart Fit also charges a cancellation fee, which costs more than a month of membership.

Smart Fit is a reliable gym, but currently has a major drawback for expats in Asunción; it's not within walking distance from Villa Morra.
